Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. The way we work together is a collaboration shaped by what you want to achieve, what you wish to talk about at each session, and what I feel is most useful to help you.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I offer individual therapy for adults (18+), working both short-term and long-term, depending on what you need and what emerges as we work together.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Therapy typically begins with an initial block of six sessions, after which we review together and decide on next steps — whether to continue, adjust the focus, or bring our work to a natural ending. Some people find six sessions make a meaningful difference to specific difficulties. Others find that longer-term work allows for deeper exploration of patterns, history, and questions of identity and meaning. There is no prescribed length. We go at your pace.

FACE TO FACE therapy in Morpeth

My therapy room is at 19B Newgate Street, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 1AW — in the heart of the town, with good access by road and public transport. Morpeth is easily reachable from Newcastle, Gateshead, Ashington, Blyth, Cramlington, Ponteland, Hexham, Alnwick, and across Northumberland.

ONLINE THERAPY

Online therapy via Zoom is available throughout the UK, and offers the same quality of care as face-to-face sessions. Some clients prefer the flexibility of working from home — particularly those in rural areas, those with mobility considerations, parents with young children, or those with demanding work schedules.

FEES

Sessions are £60 for both face-to-face and online therapy. 

I offer a free introductory call so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether we might work well together — with no commitment and no charge.

WORKING HOURS

My usual working hours are 12 - 7pm, Monday to Thursday.

WHAT TO EXPECT during the initial consultation

The free consultation begins with an opportunity for you to tell me what you would like to achieve through counselling, followed by a review of my counselling contract and an opportunity to ask any questions. This usually takes around 15 - 20 minutes. If at this point you decide to continue with me, the session becomes chargeable, and the remainder of the session will focus on gaining a deeper understanding of what has brought you to therapy, the background to this, and how we might work together most usefully.

I will never ask you to relive traumatic experiences in detail. We work at your pace, in your words, and only ever as far as you are ready to go

What CAN WE COVER DURING OUR THERAPY SESSIONS?

Therapy will be tailored to your needs, and its direction will be guided by what you want to achieve and talk about. Sometimes this will change or develop as you proceed in therapy, and that’s ok. Examples of things that clients have wanted to achieve through therapy include:

  • Develop an inner wisdom for living, while working through the difficult and negative life experiences that have hidden or distorted it.

  • Learn to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression when life feels stressful or overwhelming.

  • Grow a more integrated and independent sense of Self when self-worth and identity have been overly reliant on others.

  • Develop awareness of repeating patterns of broken or unsatisfactory relationships.

  • Find a way through the wilderness of bereavement and loss, when life feels disorientating or without much hope.

  • Explore a sense of purpose and meaning when faced with significant life events and decisions.

  • Work through experiences of trauma and abuse when feelings of shame or fear continue to impact and limit life.
